The days are long, and the years are short. My mind flies freely, threw my thoughts. Free as a bird… My life is flying, too quickly past my ears. It’s not to different, from a misthrown baseball, as it whizzes past your ears… © Meghan Byers '08

The bell has ripped my summer from me, a repetitive bell rings from the high school campus. It wakes me from my bed near 6 o’clock, sends me to the bus at 6:50 and to the parking lot, and near the school room doors. I wait alone upon the lawn, for few friends have I. But the dreaded bell rings again (to remind me of ten minutes till,) and yet again for three minutes. I enter class, to end my summer that has been ripped from me. © Meghan Byers '08

Jumping, full of energy                   Liking Around the                                    Ostriches with: Pretty peaceful                              Very And the always                              Enjoyable Nice Ninja Warriors                        Idiotic                                                      Supremely Fading                                            Swift And lingering                                  Tearing Listlessly and then                         Round Lingering                                        And In the                                             Nesting Never-ending                        

We live safe, safe and untouched, immune to everything around us. My soul, I clutched. I have much anticipation, wanting to do something, to fill this anxious boredom. Anything… I am being held back by an unseen force, that even I cannot see, and it builds frustration in me. Now I know I’m not safe or free…© Meghan Byers '08
